Founded in 2009, Point Blank Creative is Canada’s largest progressive agency, fighting for social issues and lasting change. WHO YOU ARE

You have 3+ years experience writing in an agency setting, and have a real talent for distilling complex messaging into succinct and compelling content. You like coming up with strategic ideas as much as crafting compelling long copy and hate it when people tell you “long copy is dead.” 

Although you may not know all the latest TikTok dance moves, you understand the value of keeping up with the latest social trends—to help you generate fresh and relatable content for those platforms and innovative ideas for other media. You have a firm grasp on your own voice as a writer, but have a real skill for replicating the tones of other established voices. 

When it comes to advertising awards, they’re nice to have, but you’ve got your eye on solving real-world problems. You’re passionate about fighting for social issues and lasting change, and are looking for an opportunity to use your skills to that end.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of Point Blank’s creative team, you’ll be responsible for writing and developing original creative concepts across a wide range of media, including but not limited to: television, radio, online, social, out of home, and print. 

Reporting to the Creative Director, you will work collaboratively with designers, art directors and strategists to come up with big picture ideas. But you’ll also spend a lot of time sweating the details while crafting headlines, social post copy, emails, and web copy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Key Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Collaborating with team members to generate, execute, and deliver industry leading creative concepts across a mix of advertising media.
  • Writing content that drives action and engagement across multiple digital platforms, including social media and mass emails.
  • Presenting and selling creative concepts and other deliverables in client meetings.
  • Developing brand and story guidelines for campaigns of all shapes and sizes.
  • Participating in peer reviews and providing insightful feedback on teammates’ content.
  • Identifying online trends, “moments” and platform-specific content opportunities to leverage for our clients’ campaign content.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Professional writing in French (especially Québécois French) or other languages.
  • Experience writing for political campaigns, NGOs, or labour unions.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with experience and expected to be in the range of $60,000-$70,000.
