Point Blank wins four more international Reed Awards

March 22, 2024 By Nat Wilson

The awards themselves aren’t important to us. Our clients being recognized for their tireless work is.

We’re thrilled to see Point Blank clients honoured at this years’ Campaigns & Elections Reed Awards! The awards celebrate the top political, third party, and issue campaigns around the world. It is an honour to just be nominated, but to be able to take home multiple awards again this year, including Best TV Ad Overall, is a true testament to the hard work and dedication our team and our clients pour into this work.

While awards are appreciated, the greatest reward is seeing our clients recognized for their wins–at the bargaining table, at the ballot box, fighting for workers’ rights, and on issues of social, environmental, and economic justice. Because everything is at stake.

When an ad to stop the privatization of health care wins awards, it’s because it’s successfully changing hearts and minds. It means healthcare workers have a stronger voice and feel supported. It means people have the language and tools to fight back and defend public services.

When a radio and podcast ad wins an award, it’s because people are paying attention–the message is getting across. That means our (now) Mayor has introduced herself to millions of Torontonians in a deeply caring, authentic and heartfelt way.

The battles we fight alongside our partners are for all of us. The true honour in this work is helping those who make our communities stronger.

So, with that in mind, we are proud to share the award-winning and impactful work that was recognized by the international community of campaigners.

Created in response to the Ford government’s not-so-subtle favourability for private health care, Point Blank is proud to take a stand for public health care, for patients, and for healthcare workers with OPSEU.

This campaign took Ontario by storm. The video went viral—collecting 6.5 million views (and counting), generating more than 11,450 letters to Premier Ford in support of public healthcare, organically trending on social media and Reddit, as well gaining substantial earned media attention.

In addition to this, now, award winning video, the campaign featured unique digital and out of home placements, expanding awareness for the issue and scaling the effectiveness. Check it out here.

Olivia Chow

We were so privileged to be able to partner with Olivia Chow and her campaign team on her 2023 election campaign for mayor of Toronto. With this campaign, not only were we able to help her secure a win, but we were also a part of making history.

Elected in a landslide victory, Olivia Chow’s win means a lot for the future of the city. Her commitment to making Toronto a more affordable, safer, and caring place for all is something we are proud to stand behind. Not to mention she is the first female mayor of Toronto since its amalgamation, and first mayor of Asian descent.

All of this is what we are truly here for. (But awards are nice, too.)
